In 2025, the CAAHEP Governance Committee approved a project to divide the CAAHEP Policies and Procedures into two separate documents: the Accreditation Policies and Procedures (APP) and the Operations Manual (OM).
The Accreditation Policies and Procedures is a public-facing document that establishes the policies and procedures governing CAAHEP's accreditation activities. It serves as the primary reference for programs seeking or maintaining CAAHEP accreditation and for other stakeholders seeking to understand CAAHEP's accreditation processes.
The Operations Manual is an internal governance document that details the operational procedures CAAHEP staff and committees follow to implement accreditation policy. It ensures consistent internal operations and procedural compliance.
The proposed APP and OM reflect the completion of a structured, multi-stage review process. Initial drafts were distributed to the Board of Directors, staff, and committees for a 30-day comment period. Comments were compiled and presented to the Governance Committee, which conducted a comprehensive review and determined recommended revisions. A revised draft was then submitted to legal counsel for review, and substantive feedback was incorporated into the current drafts.
Consistent with CAAHEP policy, the Board approved a preliminary version of both documents. CAAHEP is now inviting stakeholders, program directors, and members of the public to submit comments on the proposed new and substantially revised policies prior to final Board approval. The target publication date for both documents is 2027.
Use the forms below to submit comments on proposed new or revised policies. You may comment on as many policies as you wish within a single form submission. A document summarizing the proposed new and revised policies is available for download under each section. Please review the relevant policies before submitting your comments.

Because the Operations Manual governs CAAHEP's internal governance and operational procedures, it is not typically a public-facing document. However, because this is the first time the OM is being established as a standalone document, CAAHEP is making the proposed new and revised OM policies available for review and welcoming comment from stakeholders and members of the public during this initial comment period. Once the OM is published in its final form, future proposed changes will be circulated for comment among members of the Commission only.
