Maintaining Program Data

Once a program receives CAAHEP accreditation that information reaches a broad audience via two widely available sources.  The first source is the CAAHEP website; the second is the American Medical Association’s (AMA) annual Health Professions Career and Education Directory.

CAAHEP prides itself on providing a valuable service to the public by maintaining a database driven list of CAAHEP accredited programs on the CAAHEP website.  We work diligently to maintain the integrity of the data and do our best to ensure that all program data presented is accurate.

Individuals who are looking for accredited programs may search the CAAHEP database via the website by:

  • profession,
  • degree within profession,
  • concentration or track within profession,
  • on-line/distance by profession,
  • recently accredited (past 6 months) by profession and
  • recently withdrawn (past 6 months) by profession.

Each of the above profession-specific program searches can be further defined by searching within a particular state.

An individual who is reviewing an accredited program’s record on the CAAHEP website will find the Program Director’s name and contact information as well as the address of the program, its current accreditation status and the degree(s) and concentrations or tracks offered.

But this listing is only as good as the information received.  Please do notify CAAHEP at updates@caahep.org of any changes that affect the program (personnel, email addresses, phone numbers etc.).  Please help us do some extra public relations on your behalf, while increasing the accuracy and integrity of the data provided.

AMA Health Professions Career and Education Directory

The AMA publishes an annual directory that includes accredited program listings for more than 70 health sciences professions, including those covered by CAAHEP.  Since its inception, CAAHEP has worked in cooperation with the AMA to help ensure that the AMA has current CAAHEP accredited program information as well as accurate CAAHEP discipline-specific information.  This important and valuable tool is available in paperback and on CD.

The AMA Health Professions Career and Education Directory, like the CAAHEP website, is only as good as the information that it receives.  Each year the AMA utilizes an on-line survey to update every accredited program’s free listing in their directory.  This directory is an invaluable resource for increasing awareness of your accredited program to a wide audience of students, their families and school counselors.  In addition, data are compiled and used for the Health Professions Education Data Book, an important resource for health workforce analysts and policy makers.

To increase the value of these two important AMA publications, please be sure to complete the AMA Annual Survey of Health Professions Education Programs.

The survey cycle is from mid-April to October each year. All programs receive an email notification regarding the survey.  Please watch your e-mail inbox for login ID, password, and completion instructions.
